Madison Carpenter
Madison Carpenter is a designer and maker with experience in theatrical design and production across Ireland and North Carolina. Her background in performance informs a passion for creation and meaningful connection through nuanced, expressionistic visual storytelling.

Currently a Stage Properties MFA Candidate at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Madison fosters artistic collaboration with a dynamic, three-dimensional approach to scenic elements, detailed stage properties, and strategic creative direction. Her work in design and stage properties aims to pull audiences into visceral immersive atmospheres by weaving visual motifs and semiotics into cohesive, experimental spaces. Her process is reminiscent of collage– carefully piecing together researched concepts, collaborative ideas, and emotive imagery. Central to her work is an exploration of context and contrast--- the nuance of individual experience and the cultural significance that surrounds it.

Madison’s study of Cultural and Aesthetic Philosophy at the University of Galway shaped her dramaturgical approach, allowing her to hone in on details that bring a sense of authenticity to inspire feelings of empathy and investment. She pursues projects that explore questions of human experience, ethics, and community while providing an opportunity for reflection and harmony.
